MOTHERS AND OTHERS (1991) chronicles the daily lives of two mothers who coincidentally share the same name. Christee, a mother of four, is affluent, while Kristi, a single mother of two, depends on welfare to support her family. The photographs offer a comparative view while exploring the minutiae of the two mothers' everyday rituals and routines. Christee and Kristi both energetically tackle the consuming job of being a stay-at-home mom, and each marshals whatever resources she has available to nurture and care for her children. Despite the economic gulf between them, Christee and Kristi share a transcendent bond of motherhood.
